Where to Buy Jeju Pork in Singapore: Jeju Pork Belly for Korean BBQ Night

Where to Buy Jeju Pork in Singapore: Jeju Pork Belly for Korean BBQ Night

You can buy Jeju pork in Singapore at Miss A. We stock Korean Jeju Pork Belly Skin On — a 350g+- pack from the Jeju Donny brand, sourced from Jeju Island, South Korea — online, or at our East Coast store. Miss A’s Handpick Fine Food is a Singapore premium grocer founded in 2017, online at missa.sg with a store at 421 East Coast Road — a regional speciality most shoppers here only ever meet in a restaurant.

What makes Jeju pork different

Start with the product page itself. Raised in Jeju’s pristine environment, this pork eats accordingly: a clean flavour, a firm texture, and a beautifully balanced fat-to-meat ratio. Jeju pork is naturally less gamey than ordinary pork, with a subtle sweetness and rich aroma.

Some background, as general kitchen knowledge rather than a label claim: Jeju is famous across Korea for its pork — above all the island’s black pigs — and for samgyeopsal, belly grilled at the table, cut into bite-size pieces and eaten wrapped in lettuce with rice and garlic.

Why you mostly meet it in restaurants, not shops

Jeju pork is one island’s speciality, and most of it never leaves Korea. In Singapore it turns up on Korean barbecue menus far more often than on retail shelves — which is why customers keep asking us where to buy it. Until recently the honest answer involved a plane ticket; now, a pack and a hot grill.

The pack to buy — and its Spanish neighbour

Get the Korean Jeju Pork Belly Skin On. Skin-on matters: it crisps and blisters while the fat bastes the meat. The page suggests Korean BBQ, pan-searing or hotplate grilling — in that order, we’d say.

Next to it on our pork shelf sits a different tradition: Spanish Iberico Pork Belly Strips — rich marbling, succulent texture, deep savoury flavour. Neither is “better”. Iberico is the richer, softer bite; the Jeju belly is cleaner and firmer. Both on one hotplate makes dinner an interesting argument.

Grilling it the samgyeopsal way

  1. Grill the slab whole first. Skin-on belly goes on a ripping-hot grill or hotplate in one piece, until the edges crisp and the skin blisters.
  2. Cut at the table. Snip the grilled slab into bite-size pieces with kitchen scissors — the Korean way — then a final minute to crisp the cut sides.
  3. Season simply. Flaky salt, or salt stirred into sesame oil as a dip. Clean-tasting pork deserves better than being buried under sauce.
  4. Wrap and eat. Lettuce leaf, a little rice, a sliver of garlic, pork on top. One hand, one bite, no cutlery diplomacy.

Make a night of it

A home Korean BBQ wants a second act: the Australian Black Angus Galbi Beef Short Ribs — their page calls them ideal for Korean BBQ, and they are — alongside the Jeju belly and Iberico strips. A few packs across the grill carries an order past $150, where standard delivery turns free. More in Premium Meat and Pork & Deli.

FAQ

Where can I buy Jeju pork in Singapore?

At Miss A’s Handpick Fine Food — online at missa.sg, or in person at 421 East Coast Road. The pack: Korean Jeju Pork Belly Skin On (350g+-), Jeju Donny brand, from Jeju Island, South Korea.

What is Jeju black pork, and why is it prized?

Jeju’s black pigs are the island’s celebrated breed, prized across Korea for firm, flavourful meat. About the belly we actually sell, we can tell you what its page states: Jeju Island pork from the Jeju Donny brand, clean-tasting and less gamey, with a subtle sweetness, rich aroma and a balanced fat-to-meat ratio. We’d rather quote the page than dress the pack in claims it doesn’t make.

How do you cook Jeju pork belly?

Grill it as a slab, samgyeopsal-style: ripping-hot grill or hotplate, skin-on, until the edges crisp; cut into bite-size pieces with scissors; a final minute to crisp the cut sides; then salt, wrap in lettuce with rice and garlic, and eat immediately. Pan-searing works too — it slices and grills beautifully.

Good pork belly needs a hot grill, sharp scissors, and people you like. The rest, Jeju already did.
